From Gene Mallory I am pleased to announce that effective immediately, JLConsultant, Inc. has acquired the names JetLetter and Jet Products, and the intellectual property that I have developed over the years, including Jet Letter 8 and Jet Tools. Chris Young, the owner of JLConsultant, Inc. has been a Jet Letter user since the early 1990's, and has been involved over the years in testing and feedback which has led to many of Jet Letter's features. In addition to his experience with Jet Letter, Chris also brings a wealth of knowledge in VDP printing, data processing and conversion, work-flow automation, and mail room productivity. JLConsultant, Inc. will be responsible for all future development of Jet Letter and Jet Tools, as well as sales and support. Chris can be contacted at cyoung@jlconsultant.com or by phone at (615) 537-1284. Sincerely, Gene Mallory

JetLetter is now part of JLConltant, Inc.

Greetings to the Jet Letter community. After years of working with Gene Mallory and exchanging ideas on how to further enhance the capabilities of Jet Letter and Jet Tools, Gene and I reached an agreement where I would take over the development of Jet Letter and Jet Tools. Gene will still be involved in the development, but in more of a low-key way. The current sales and support team of Tom Crooks and Ralf Stabel will still be the sales and support team. The best thing about Jet Letter and the Jet Letter community is the history of Gene listening to, and responding to the needs of the Jet Letter users. I assure you that will not change. We have already begun development on some new additions to Jet Tools, and we are working hard to finish the development of Jet Letter v8. Sincerely, Chris Young JLConsultant Inc. Marry Christmas and a wish for a wonderful new year to all in the group! I have recently received a couple of files that claim to be Excel but are not. They are basically some sort of XML and other files in a container zip file with a forced extension XLS (I guess to bypass email blockers) that I can easily extract to a folder. The million dollar question is how I can open them? I can't tell what file is the one that supposedly contains any data or links to data. I have tried Excel since it has a feature to open and import XML files but any file I have tried to open with the XML extension does not render any valid data. Any expert on XML that could give me some light? it will be very appreciated.

Newer versions of Excel should be able to open them. I use Excel 2007 for these.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL & THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF POSTAL EMPLOYEE NETWORK OVER THE PAST 11 YEARS. I hope 2010 will be your best year ever! Rick Owens PEN

New BCC data directories arrive along with software. Install the software and then get to the point where it wants to install Lon/lat files but the OK button if grayed out. Move along to DPV and can install off of data DVD but then run into this again with another file where the location is clearly showing in the destination window but the "OK" button is grayed out.
