New USPS Officer Appointments Announced

The Postal Service has announced new officer appointments within Mailing and Shipping Services and Operations.

Previously vice president of Sales, Susan Plonkey is now acting president of Mailing and Shipping Services, a division responsible for more than $65 billion in annual revenue. In this role, she’s responsible for all product management, product development, retail and commercial products and services, as well as commercial sales.

Steven Hernandez is now acting vice president of Sales. He most recently served as Postmaster in San Antonio, TX, and Austin, TX.

Additionally, there are realignments within the Mailing and Shipping Services organization. The Expedited Shipping and Ground Shipping groups have merged into a single Shipping Services group, led by Vice President Gary Reblin, who’s responsible for all shipping products and services and customer service improvements.

Jim Cochrane is now vice president of Product Visibility and Operational Performance. In this newly-formed group, Cochrane will lead the development of innovations in scanning technologies and tracking systems, including the Intelligent Mail barcode and implementation of product scanning improvements.

In Operations, Tim Haney was named vice president, area operations for the Capital Metro Area. Haney had served as vice president, area operations for the Northeast Area — a position now held by Jordan Small, who previously served as vice president, Network Operations.

Assuming Small’s previous role is David Williams, who last served as vice president, Engineering, responsible for directing all engineering and acquisition support functions. His successor is Kelly Sigmon, who was named vice president after completing the Postal Service’s Sloan Fellows Program with a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
