Royal Mail Advertising Mail Customer Briefing
Welcome to the first Customer briefing that provides you with information on our new Advertising Mail service which is currently planned to be launched in April 2010.
Advertising Mail provides our Customers with the opportunity to benefit from a price reduction of 0.25p for every Letter item posted through existing Access Standard and Premium services.
To achieve the lower price for posting Advertising Mail, items must meet the specification for item contents, address and Postcode accuracy.
The Advertising Mail price reduction is available on addressed Direct Mail (DM) Mailing Items comprising of a largely uniform message with the purpose of promoting the sale or use of products or services or to encourage contribution to or support of a cause.
Advertising Mail will require the effective use of data management to improve the targeting of DM. This will ensure that mail is only sent to up to date and relevant address lists to ensure, for example, that goneaway and deceased records have been updated and that Advertising Mail only goes to those addresses that are more likely to respond.
The Advertising Mail service is a 5-Working Day delivery product (Monday to Friday), and our aim is to deliver on the 1st Working Day after handover and acceptance by Royal Mail. The Advertising Mail service does not offer Saturday delivery. Consequently, Advertising Mail cannot be handed over at Inward Mail Centres (IMCs) on a Friday (nor early Saturday a.m. for Premium) and receive the price reduction.
As with other Royal Mail Wholesale (RMW) services, Advertising Mail will be given discrete service codes and these must be declared on the Manifest and Daily Posting docket at the time of the daily uploads to E*pro and DocketHub. (Advertising Mail will migrate onto the Wholesale Management System (WMS) when the system is launched).
The presentation requirements for Advertising Mail are in the process of being finalised and details of the full service specification will be incorporated into a new Schedule to be added to our Access contracts. Each Customer who wishes to use the Advertising Mail service will need to sign a Schedule with Royal Mail before we can accept any Advertising Mail posting from them.
If you have any further questions, please refer to the RMW website under frequently asked questions (also attached with this email) or speak to your RMW Account Manager who will be able to provide further details of the Advertising Mail service.
